It's taken four years of research and putting together, but now I am relieved to say that I have finally finished my epic handbook on anti-marketing. The beast is chockfull with as many examples of anti and postmodernist marketing as I could find, along with several stories about how daft modern marketing has become. There's also a bit on postmodernist theory - but not enough to put the reader off. I also hope I've made it pretty readable and as humorous as such a topic would allow.
It covers all sorts of stuff from reverse-psychology and minimalist marketing to principled and ethical selling - and there's even a valiant attempt at explaining concepts such as 'de-differentiation', 'appropriation' and the all-time favourite, 'paradoxical juxtaposition'. When you've weeded though those minefields, there are also stories of a more personal nature (Teddy Bear Wars; Chasing Dittos and even one dangerous chapter entitled: 'Adolf Hitler and Bushbabies').
OK... it's not for everyone, but I reckon that anyone with an interest in the way we deal with one another nowadays can find something of interest in this minor epic!
Of course, the major task is still front of me as I attempt to coax a major publisher to take this baby on. At the moment, I am happy to self-publish and get it out to as many people as possible really to gauge reaction (and spot the typos).
Of course, the moment I typed... 'The End', I was inundated with brand new marketing madness on the streets, ranging from the mouldy Burger King burger (wonderful anti-marketing) to a long article explaining how Amazon are rapidly changing from a product delivery service to an information-farming corporation. All great stuff for the postmodernist anti-marketeer to get his or her teeth stuck into.

Anyway... enough of all this self-congratulatory back-patting.... but just needed the world to know.
