Which one should I choose?

Actually... which one would you choose?

Somewhat obscure (pretentious) humour on the left? Or colourful, garish and 'all-over-the-place', razzmatazz (on the right)?

I'm nearly at the end of my latest mammoth project - this book on anti-marketing. It's taken the best part of a year researching the beast and then having a good think about how I could add to such a massively dull and dry subject.

I started the whole thing with the one thought: 'well, someone had to do it,' even though, in hindsight, they probably didn't.

But... having got to the final bend of the race, I've come to the egotistical conclusion that it was all worth it and that I've given the whole genre of postmodernist marketing a fresh makeover.

It hasn't been easy moulding together stuff on de-differentiation, poligny, anti-foundationalism (don't ask), Stingray, Pokemon Go and teddy bears (still don't ask), but I think I've managed... something.

And when I watched Mel Brook's 'Blazing Saddles' last night, I suddenly had my closing paragraph - yes, it's that sort of book.

Don't get me wrong - it's not just a light-hearted romp through the daft foothills of my odd little brain. I reckon there's some serious stuff in there (the book, not my brain) as well, though I think you have to hunt out.

Taking on stuff which philosophers, linguists, mad movie directors and artists have all had a go at, is a fairly daunting mountain to climb at the best of times. And some of the books and articles I've trudged through, have been mind-blowing in ways I never thought possible. Essays by theorists and esteemed experts like Lyotard and Baudrillard, was a bit like Northampton Town going to Old Trafford and expecting a result.

But a result I now have... a miss-mash of ideas on sales and marketing in the 21st century, all told in a tongue-in-cheek way, which I think is instantly accessible and understandable. Plus, it's a nice swipe at sales and marketing and the monster it has become.

It was also lovely to start the epic with the two wonderful sentences: 'I hate sales and marketing. I really hate sales and marketing."

Writing that was therapeutic on so many levels!

And now, I have to decide which cover to choose... from the two at the top. If you have any advice or suggestions, then please let me know - I am nearly always open to good, sane, and silly advice.

And then go out and buy the thing - it's the least you could do, because it most definitely will change the way you look at sales, marketing and life forever! It's that good. No, it's better than that. It's... genius.
